MineStar® Solutions
MineStar provides the tools and services needed to help your mine get the most from your mining assets while lowering the cost per ton, offering you:-
- Realtime monitoring of mobile equipment

- Realtime monitoring of material movement
- Realtime monitoring of equipment health
- Realtime control and optimisation of Mining Fleet
- Historical analysis and reporting of mine production
- Diagnostic and prognostic analysis of equipment health
- Enterprise application integrated framework
MineStar is a comprehensive, integrated mining information system. Through a series of sub-systems for production reporting, truck assignment, health monitoring and fleet analysis, MineStar links information gathered in the field to the office business enterprise systems.
You can choose from these sub-systems to create a solution best matched to the desired functionality. The system is scalable and upgradeable to accommodate a growing fleet of machines or an increased desire for more information and capability.
MineStar is designed around the latest IT standards using integrated on-board systems, advanced communications and efficient scheduling, which is available for Cat® and non-Cat machines.
Vital Information Management System
Caterpillar’s Vital Information Management System (VIMS) is an advanced diagnostic and equipment management tool designed to work in the rugged and high-utilisation mining environment.
By continuously monitoring over 250 machine functions and health statistics, VIMS provides service personnel and managers, maintenance and engineering systems with vital machine health and production information. This continuous monitoring can improve machine availability, machine component life and productivity while both reducing repair costs and the risk of catastrophic failure.
The realtime machine information can allow the operator to make informed decisions that directly affect their safety, machine availability and ultimately productivity of the mine. Maintenance Managers benefit from having the information necessary to maximise component life and to reduce failures and unscheduled downtime. Production also benefits through equipment usage, future machine requirements, personnel performance and productivity levels.
Introduced in 1994, VIMS is now standard on 785, 789, 793 and 797 Off Highway Trucks and 854, 992 and 994 Wheel Loaders.
Work Area Vision System
Work Area Vision System (WAVS) utilises cameras mounted on the outside of your machine in order to transmit images to a closed circuit television system mounted inside the cab. Through the colour LCD screen, it provides the operator with a greater awareness of his surroundings, work tool activity and changing work area conditions. These in turn assist with productivity and minimise safety risks.
WAVS is not a replacement for direct views and installed mirrors but is an added aid.
WAVS has been developed for rugged applications and environments. It is simple to install on any machine and easy to use.
Some of its many features include:-
- A high sealing rating to keep out dust and water from high pressure cleaning
- Internal heater for removal of condensation, ice and snow
- Auto sense illumination for changing light conditions
- Adjustable camera mounting
- Panoramic and narrow angle views
- Photo chromic lenses
